The Pisces swimming team in collaboration with Bayline urges you to read the following tips for the sea.

We would like to thank Athanasios Kotsomytis from Bayline for his contribution to the writing of the text regarding the safety of children at sea during the summer season!

Always swim with company!

Make sure to always be close to the lifeguard and follow his instructions.

Always swim close to the shore. It is better to swim parallel to the shore than perpendicular to it and drift away. Do not stray far from the beach or buoys.

Learn to recognize an ocean current. If you get carried away by the current, NEVER swim against it. You will get exhausted and end up in the same spot.

Do not dive in unknown waters or from high places.

Swim at least 3 hours after eating. If you need to eat, choose something light.

Never call for "help" as a joke, because you could put someone's life in real danger.

If you feel that you are in danger in the water or are having a cramp, stay calm and ask for help by raising your hand.

If you feel tired or cramping in the water, lean forward. Take a deep breath and lower your head below the surface of the water. Move your legs to float. Stretch the painful muscle in the opposite direction of the muscle contraction.

Always dive in the fetal position if it is shallower than 1.5m, especially if you cannot see the bottom.

When boarding any boat, always wear a life jacket and always report your route.

Always swim in good weather conditions.

Rain is not dangerous for swimming, but when there is lightning and thunder you should IMMEDIATELY get out of the water.

Avoid swimming in rough seas.

Life jackets and armbands are not lifesaving devices, they are simply flotation aids.

If you're chasing inflatable balls at sea, be aware that the wind can blow them away and you could be carried dangerously far away.

If you see someone drowning, throw them a buoyancy aid or call a lifeguard immediately. Avoid saving them with your body.

A child is prohibited from having access to the sea or the pool alone.

I always use approved life jackets with an approval number.

Regarding the pool, make sure that no toys are left in the water or in the surrounding area and ensure that the pool does not have any free entry during the hours you are not present.

Children need your attention constantly.

Long hours of exercise (play) and exposure to the sun can cause sunburn and exhaustion.

I explain the risks to the child.

My child should be taught proper swimming by professional coaches before the summer season.

To know how to swim and basic lifeguarding skills.

To know first aid myself.

I take care of my personal health and fitness.

How much joy we get from children...!!!
A few days ago we visited the 1st primary school of Nea Radestou, to talk about safety at sea, not only to the children's parents, but also to the children themselves!
What can you say about this interactive talk?
From the collaboration with the parents' association and specifically the unique Persian Kitsouleri? Who selflessly and selflessly offer their time and love for all of us, parents, children and teachers?
From the enthusiasm of the approximately 250 students who entered the auditorium in a frenzy of joy and excitement, but also with undivided attention for all the wonderful things we had to share?
For the school principal, Mrs. Stella Fasoula, who welcomed us and supported us with all her love and trust in us?
You are happy to see people who care about the good! This is wonderful, sharing your knowledge for the common good! Let children know how to enjoy but also respect the sea and through this knowledge, offer them the greatest gift: To believe in themselves!
As parents and as members of society, we thank from the bottom of our hearts the 1st elementary school of Nea Radestou for welcoming us and participating in all of us contributing a little bit to making this world a better place!
We are also accepting proposals from other schools in the country, in view of the summer!

Last Thursday, we were honored to be invited to the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – to the swimming specialty class – to talk about what we love so much, to the young students: The baby swimming and the Aqua Yoga for pregnant women! Sharing our knowledge and experiences with people who are just starting their professional careers is something that far exceeds our dreams!
We would like to thank the responsible professor, Mr. Loupos Dimitrios, for opening the doors to us for this wonderful sharing and his very targeted questions!
And of course, all the students, who – it is worth noting – despite our verbal barrage and after their class was long over, watched us with the same undiminished interest and bombarded us with questions! Thank you for entrusting us with your minds and hearts, so that we can offer you not only new opportunities for professional development, but also for personal growth.
We wished and we wish that all young people would learn to listen to their hearts, so that they can pursue the dreams they want, through the joy of their choice! Only in this way will we all excel as a society…

We are delighted to invite you to take part in the first academy swimming competitions “SWIMMING SPRING FESTIVAL” for children aged 5 to 10 years old, which will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2019, 10:00-12:30, at the indoor pool of the National Swimming Pool of Thessaloniki. The Ichthys swimming team will be in attendance!

We will be happy to see you!!!

The participation fee for each athlete is set at 5 euros. which will be submitted to the organizing authority by each clubIncludes a commemorative medal, a bag of food, a small water bottle and of course fun and music.

Register your participation at our secretariats by Friday, March 22, 2019.

Along with your participation form, remember to order from our secretariats - if you haven't already done so - caps and t-shirts for our strong presence, cohesion, homogeneity and above all the unity of our team!

Because it is of great importance that our children come to their first games feeling comfortable and happy, please discuss with the secretariat about their possible participation.
