STA Seminar 2018! Our team embraces all infant swimming groups in Greece!
This weekend was another great seminar of STA with Danae Zelioti-Souzo and Nikolas Hadjigiakoumis in our wonderful space in Calamari!
We were honored with the presence of several coaches from various regions of Greece, as well as coaches from neighboring infant swimming pools in our city.
Through all this sharing of experiences and knowledge, we can now say with confidence that we are very moved that through this seminar, we gave young children the opportunity to flourish and transmit their love and their madness for water and children in the right way.
In this three-day experience, through the theories of baby swimming but also through the practical parts, we all became a team!
18 different people, 18 different chemistries! We welcomed new energies into the water and together we created an 18-karat atmosphere of joy, love and teamwork...
Once again, it was proven that when you learn something about children and engage with them, there is no other path than the path of love and understanding. Not only towards children and infants, but also towards ourselves.

The Swimmer's Christmas Party
The Swimmer's Christmas Party for boys and girls aged 5 to 9 years, is coming on December 9th, at the Poseidon swimming pool and the Pisces swim team will be there more dynamically than ever! Our little swimmers will participate in the events, play games and relay races, and will all receive commemorative diplomas!

At the initiative of the Swimming Clubs and Coaches of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with the E.A.K. of Thessaloniki, with the support of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, and with the assistance of the N.A.B.E., the Christmas Swimming Day is being organized for boys and girls aged 5 to 9 years with the agreement of the coaches. The day will be held at the POSEIDONIO swimming pool (Indoor pool 50m.) on Sunday, December 9, 2018. Starting time 11:30 for all ages for boys and girls. The arrival of the swimmers-threes must be at least half an hour before the start of the competitions.
PARTICIPATION TERMS
- Each swimmer is entitled to participate in 1 event.
- Each swimmer aged 5 - 6 - 7 participating in the competition must have their own fins and board.
- The series will be held according to age and event and with the agreement and proposal of the coach of the club of the participating swimmers-trios.
- The participation of each swimmer MUST BE MANDATORY ACCOMPANIED BY A RESPONSIBLE HEALTH DECLARATION FROM THE PARENT certifying that there is no health problem and that he/she can participate in the day.
- The participation cost for each swimmer is €10, which will be deposited with the organizing authority by each club.
Awards: After the end of the activities, all swimmers will be awarded commemorative "PARTICIPATION" diplomas and competition medals.

The renovation of the Ichthys Kalamaria swimming pool
The study for the organization and configuration of the interior spaces was carried out by the architectural firm Babyecodesign.gr, which specializes in the design of children's spaces with a child-centered approach. The aim of the architectural study of the Ichthys swimming team was to create a functional & modern swimming pool that meets the needs of children and adults. The central idea is the combination of maximum functionality, high aesthetics and recognizable identity, applying basic principles of the child-centered approach to architectural design: proper arrangement of spaces aiming to meet the respective needs of each age, color study with the appropriate color stimuli with colors of natural mild chemistry, lighting study and fixtures, accessories & furniture made of recyclable materials in modern simple lines. The architectural study and renovation of the space was carried out with a modern architectural perspective, always with the needs of the Ichthys swimming team as a priority and main guideline, aiming for the ideal child-centered design solution. The program requirements defined a space for all ages, which will be an ideal gathering place for relaxation and training for water activities. The basic architectural principle was the clear separation & proper functionality of the main activities. More specifically, the program of the space on the Ground Floor includes: reception area, swimming equipment sales area, 2 locker rooms with changing rooms, 10 showers, indoor, heated, sunny swimming pool, (with basic cleaning ozone, inorganic chlorine in a percentage of drinking water and UV rays) & respectively on the first floor: adult waiting area with full visual contact with the pool, refreshment center, children's creative activity area, breastfeeding area, as well as & an office space. The new year has begun, schools, playgrounds and children's parties are in full swing and that's how the virus party begins!
But is there anything we can do to let's catch up the "bad" before need to do it treat;
The fact that children get sick more in winter has nothing to do with the cold, but exactly the oppositeThere are very few cases where a child gets a cold and must have actually been exposed to extreme conditions! Just as in the winter, in the cold, germs die! The problem arises in crowded spaces, where due to heat, more germs develop and spread with the many people!
Now what dominates is the rapid spread of viruses, precisely because we don't go outside. Germs can't withstand low temperatures. And as long as we are crowded together in closed spaces, we reproduce the spread of germs.
Below we will present you with 6 reasons to see why swimming prevents and cures the "evil"!
1) A person who exercises – NO MATTER WHAT TIME they do it outside – gets sick less! With exercise, hyperemia is created, while at the same time any toxins are eliminated, so our body gets stronger! Or even if they do get sick, they face the problem more mildly, since the body is strong. Therefore, especially in winter – when there is an outbreak of viruses and overcrowding in closed spaces – is when we must take care of our body to avoid viruses.

It's no coincidence that all parents try the most difficult foods after the lesson!! So they eat like crazy and we calm down because their stomachs are full! And a person who eats well, also copes with illnesses better!
3) And there's psychology involved! The child comes with mom or dad to the pool and they are sooooooooo happy to spend meaningful time together! How do you fill winter afternoons with kids at home who have crazy energy? While in the pool, we play with our children, bond, laugh, squirm and above all, we succeed together. What could be nicer? And a happy person gets sick less!
4) Not to mention the self-confidence! Children who participate in a program swimming from a young age, they make friends with peers from an early age, so they are more social and set goals that they achieve from an early age, so they have healthy self-esteem and more courage!
5) And here comes that sweet bedtime! And since the child is tired from the lesson, he falls asleep and we can freely party!!! And a person who sleeps well, is super lucid! We parents will see when we will sleep!

The KIDOT (Kids of Tomorrow) Festival is coming to Thessaloniki for the second time, on September 15 and 16, transforming the New City Hall into a space of celebration, free expression and creative play!
The positive experience and warm response of visitors to the 1st KIDOT Festival, as well as the numerous requests to continue this particular festival, prompted the KIDOT team to organize this second event, which is growing and changing, enriching the educational and entertainment activities of the two-day event, introducing new categories and events and hosting even more collaboration and interaction activities between members of the entire family.
But what is the KIDOT Festival?
This is a two-day multi-thematic educational and entertainment festival focusing on children and adolescents, which bases its actions on educational play and experiential learning.
From early morning to late afternoon, educational workshops, educational and recreational activities, theatrical performances and musical events, all-day events, open discussions and speeches, a food corner and a market with products and services exclusively for our little friends and their families, invite visitors of all ages to discover interesting activities, develop new skills, get to know the organizations and professionals active in the city and try out their services and products.
The goal of the KIDOT Festival is to create a "network" of communication and networking between professionals and the public, while at the same time offering a comprehensive festival that will meet the modern demands and "wants" of today's children, as well as the need for play, entertainment and interaction.

The 2nd KIDOT Festival is aimed at children, teenagers and the entire family, offering activities and events for all age groups!
More specifically, the experiential KIDOT Workshops are aimed at both children and adolescents (infancy to 15 years old) and adults, hosting parent-child activities, as well as seminars exclusively for adults. The Side and All Day Events invite visitors of all ages to have fun, enjoying open air participatory performances, dance shows and musical performances!
At the same time, the KIDOT Talks and the KIDOT Market of Services and Products are aimed at parents, educators, professionals, as well as students of related schools, as well as all those who are interested and wish to be informed about contemporary issues surrounding children and adolescents, while the Food & Drinks Corner and the specially designed Lounge and KIDS Play Areas offer tasty breaks and moments of relaxation to young and old visitors, completing this festive celebration.
