Families are spending quality time in Thessaloniki, thanks to water learning and skills development program, invented by the "Pisces" in the form of a game, for infants from 40 days of age and for toddlers up to 5 years of age accompanied by parents or guardians.
Babies become immediately familiar with baby swimming
"The idea is not too strange, considering that infants are familiar with it, as swimming in warm water resembles the state experienced by the fetus during pregnancy," said the Mr. Nikolas Hadjigiakoumis, responsible of the program to the "Pisces-baby swimming" and one of the few infant swimming instructors in Greece
The benefits of swimming for infants and children are unique
Babies from 4 months old who attend this specific swimming program take part in a pleasant physical activity, spend quality time with their parents and learn through play.
It is scientifically proven that swimming enhances children's physical fitness, their respiratory capacity, and heart function, while at the same time improving their posture and body position. They overcome their fears, gain courage and self-confidence and become more autonomous, but also more social. They develop defenses and skills for their absolute safety in the water, they sleep much better, but also longer after a complete swimming lesson and they get sick less.
Overall, this early childhood swimming program is a constructive time between parent and child and lays a solid foundation for a life in which the adult will be able to participate in, and enjoy, a wide variety of sports, both in and out of the water.
Frequency and duration of courses
Swimming lessons are held once a week for half an hour (based on scientific research by pediatricians), under the guidance of specialized coaches, while the children in each section are matched in age and swimming ability.
